Aggies Have Productive First Day In Charlotte
CHARLOTTE —After day one of the 49er Classic the Aggies had some great performances on the track and on the field.
Junior Marquis Noble won the men’s long jump with an outdoor personal-best jump of 24-feet, 1 ¾ inches. Freshman Todd Townsend has the top time going into the 110-meter hurdles final with a time of 14.52.
Junior Saeed Jones placed ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a finishing time of 10:08.09. Freshman Darren White placed 36th in the 5,000-meters with a personal-best time of 15:20.04.
On the women’s side, senior Sherri Owens placed ninth in the discus with a personal-best throw of 132-feet, 2-inches. Senior Jessica Farr will be returning in the women’s 200-meter dash with a preliminary time of 24.45.
“I’m pleased with today’s performance,” said Duane Ross, director of track and field programs. “We opened the season with some strong performances so overall we had a successful first day.”
