GREENSBORO – Duane Ross, North Carolina A&T’s director of track field programs, has decided to cancel the team’s annual trip to Penn Relays in order to prepare for the 2014 MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Therefore, the Charlotte Invitational on Friday, April 18, will be the Aggies final tune up before the conference championships to be held at A&T’s Irwin Belk Track, May 1-3.

“We’re in MEAC mode now so although we want to take every competition seriously, we’ve started to refresh our base and go back to some of our fundamentals trying to tighten things up in preparation for MEAC,” said Duane Ross, director of track and field programs.

Friday’s field events are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., while the running events start five hours later.  The Aggies had outstanding performances last Saturday at Aggie Stadium and plan to continue with their success, as the conference championship gets closer.

“I expect our guys to go out and execute and do what they have been doing all year in practice,” said Ross. “I expect them to do well especially after coming off a great weekend here, but we are looking towards conference.”
