Aggies' First Day At MEAC Meet Goes Well
GREENSBORO – After day one of events at the 2014 MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Irwin Belk Track , the Aggies scored some significant points.
The A&T men are in third place with 15 points, while the women are in sixth with 10 points. Florida A&M is the day one leader for the men with 19 points, while Bethune-Cookman is the women's leader with 28 points.
Sophomore Nakita Gray took second place in the women’s high jump at 5-feet, 9 ¾ inches, scoring eight points for the women’s track and field team.
Sophomore Demetria Dickens gathered five points in the women’s discus throw placing fourth at 146-feet, 4-inches, a personal-best. Freshman Darren White placed fourth in the men’s 5,000-meter run at 15:37.02, adding five points to men’s team.
Senior Brittanie Morris (1:02) has the second fastest time going into the finals of the 400 meter hurdles and freshman Danique Dye (1:01.14) isn’t too far behind her being ranked fifth going into Saturday’s final. Senior Jessica Farr (24.09) will return to the final of the women’s 200 meters.
The men have three men returning to the final of the 200, which are freshmen Joshua Peoples (21.27) and Caleb Gabriel (21.34) and senior Desmond Lawrence (21.22).
The meet is scheduled to begin Friday morning at 9 with the women’s heptathlon and the men’s decathlon.
