Outdoor Runners Get A Tune Up in Winston-Salem
WINSTON-SALEM – A small number of North Carolina A&T track and field athletes competed on Sunday at the Winston-Salem State Open held at JDL Fast Track.
Unattached Aggie Darryl Williams placed fourth with a time of 6.76 in the 60 meters behind former Aggie track superstar Calesio Newman.
Williams also won the 200 meter s with this season’s personal-best time of 22.08. Junior Desmond Lawrence ran 6.83 finishing fifth behind Williams. Lawrence is still first in the MEAC in the 60 and 37th in the nation. Freshman Caleb Gabriel ran 7.00 placing eighth.
Unattached Aggie Jessica Farr placed third in the women’s 400 meters with a time of 56.31 and sixth in the 60 at 7.76.
Athletes Farr and Williams will compete for the Aggies in the upcoming outdoor season.
The Aggies next competition will be Sunday at the UNCG Spartans Team Challenge in Winston-Salem, NC at JDL Fast Track.
