GREENSBORO -  North Carolina A&T's quest for another MEAC women's tennis win came up short Monday as Florida A&M defeated the Aggies 6-1 at the Piedmont Tennis Center.

"We desperately need another win, sooner than later," said Aggies coach James Dunwoody. "It's not about the quality of how we play; it's that we don't know how to manage big points at big moments. I see us as a fairly good team, one of the best teams we have ever had, but they have just established a tradition of losing that stays with them before they even start a match. I have yet to see anybody who is that much better than us, but when it comes to managing big points we are not there. It comes from experience, and as the coach I take some blame for it."

The Aggies lost all three doubles matches to the Rattlers to surrender the doubles point. The one win of the day for A&T came from No.  4 singles player Kimberly Stalling (So.), who defeated FAMU's Britney Dean in two sets 6-2, 6-2. The Aggies need another conference win in order to become eligible for the MEAC Tournament in April.

With the loss, the Aggies fell to 2-9 overall and 1-2 in the MEAC.

"The most productivity I have seen is from court four," said Dunwoody. "She plays within herself. She stays calm and collected at all times. She's always settled in and that's how I want the rest of them to play. A lot of them get so impatient when they play and do not stay calm.

They think they are the only ones that make errors. But our opponents make as many errors as we do," Dunwoody added.
