Aggies Overview: The North Carolina A&T University volleyball team will be facing its fifth Big South opponent on Thursday. The Aggies have posted a 0-4 record against Big South teams this season with losses to Radford, Winthrop, High Point, and Campbell. A&T will also be looking for its second road win and non-conference win of the season. Stamnes has recorded a pair of double-doubles in two of the Aggies’ previous three matches. She posted 16 kills and 12 digs over S.C. State and 14 kills along with 14 digs against Gardner-Webb. Stamnes also tallied a total of 11 service aces in the last three matches, with five against GWU. McDaniel has a team-leading 209 (2.71/set) kills and handed down 16 in the previous match.
Match Overview: This will be the second meeting between the Aggies and the Bulldogs this season. UNC Asheville took a 3-0 decision over A&T on Sept. 14 at the UNCW Invitational. Asheville is on a two-game winning streak after defeating Presbyterian and Winthrop. The Bulldogs are led by Christine Lakatos in kills (3.32/set) and Anna Moore (3.07/set). Moore also leads her team in blocks (77) and service aces (27). As a team, Asheville is averaging 12.47 kills per set. Setter Katie Davis has started in every set this season and racked up 739 assists. Defensively Asheville is led by Rachel Well who has recorded 388 digs (5.39/set).
Potential Star: Stamnes has provided the Aggies with both offensive and defensive support in their last few matches. In non-conference matches, she is averaging 2.40 kills per set
News & Notes:
- McDaniel led the Aggies with 12 kills in their last match against the Bulldogs. Lakatos led Asheville with 14 kills and Moore tallied 13.
- Moore is second in the Big South Conference in hitting percentage (.340) and Davis is second in assists (10.29).
- Ashley Johnson is currently sixth in the MEAC in digs, averaging 3.73 digs per set. Stamnes is eighth in the MEAC in service aces (0.33/set). McDaniel is 10th in the conference in kills (2.71)
