THE BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD OF NORTH CAROLINA PLAYER OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 14-21)
Full Name: Te'Borah Simone' Hawkins-Hollingsworth
Date of Birth: 12/21/93
Major: Criminal Justice
Hometown: Laurinburg, N.C.
Professional Goals: "I plan to graduate from North Carolina A&T summa cum laude, and then I plan to get my master's degree. I want to do lawyer work or either be a paralegal."
The Student-Athlete: "Being able to juggle all the things you have to do as a student and an athlete just makes me want to work harder."
The evidence for being the BCBSNC Athlete of the Week: Hawkins-Hollingsworth didn't play a lot of sets early in the season as she recovered from a preseason meniscus injury. She worked herself back into shape and is now one of the Aggies' most dominant hitters. She helped the Aggies earn their first victory of the season with a team-high 11 kills on October 14 at Savannah State. That performance was followed three days later with a 15-kill performance in a tough five-set loss to Norfolk State. During the week, she had 26 kills and a .219 hitting percentage.
Te'Borah on being named BCBSNC Athlete of the Week: "I've overcome a lot (injuries) since I've been here. But I always tell coach (Hal Clifton), 'whatever I have to do to get on the court, that's what I'm going to do.'"
