Aggies Overview: The Aggies have endured four straight three set losses at the hands of UNC Wilmington, Western Carolina, UNC Asheville, and Charlotte. A&T looks to build more production in the middle to become a more efficient team. The Aggies have played a lot of close first sets and plans to keep that energy consistent throughout the rest of the match to remain competitive. In Tuesday’s game against Charlotte, Liz Martino recorded her fifth match of the season with 20-plus assists. She finished with 20 and added nine digs. Ashley Johnson led A&T in digs with 15 to notch her 24th career match with 12-plus digs.
Match Overview: Appalachian State (6-4) is on a three game losing streak after falling to Colorado 3-2, Baylor 3-0, and Northwestern State 3-0 at the Baylor Tournament. Emily Corrigan (3.82/set) and Jess Keller (2.62) lead the Mountaineers in kills. Keller also leads the team in blocks with 33. She has tallied eight block solos and 25 block assists. Paige Brown has posted a team-high 344 assists and is averaging 10.12 per set.
Potential Star: Stamnes recorded her fourth game of the season in double-figure kills against Charlotte after handing down a team-high 10 kills. She also added seven digs. Stamnes has led the Aggies in kills in five of their 11 matches.
News & Notes:
- A&T’s game against the 49ers was its second game of the season where it minimized fewer errors than its opponent.
- Appalachian and A&T played on the same date last season (Sept. 18, 2012) in Boone. The Mountaineers won the match 3-0.
- Ashley Johnson is currently sixth in the MEAC in digs, averaging 3.46 digs per set.
