Aggies Overview:  The North Carolina A&T volleyball team will conclude its regular season schedule over the weekend when it visits Savannah State and S.C. State. The Aggies will look to rebound from a 3-0 loss to East Carolina on Tuesday in their home finale. A&T swept Savannah State and notched a 3-1 win over S.C. State in their last matches. However the Aggies are 1-9 on the road this season and will have to defeat both teams over the weekend to remain the second seed in the Southern Division heading into the conference tournament next week. In conference matches, McDaniel is registering a team-leading 3.39 kills per set.  On the road, Stamnes has been the Aggies ace with 2.21 kills a set. McDaniel and Stamnes led the Aggies on the attack in the Aggies last meeting with the two teams. McDaniel (17 kills, 18 digs), Stamnes (16 kills, 12 digs) and Martino (44 assists, 10 digs) each recorded double-doubles against the Bulldogs. Although the Aggies swept the Tigers, they only took a 29-28 advantage in kills. Stamnes led A&T with eight kills.

Savannah State and S.C. State Match Overviews: The Tigers have struggled this season but are led by Justice Dilworth (1.64 kills/set). In MEAC matches Dilworth is recording 2.08 kills per set. SSU has recorded 7.11 kills per set while their opponents have boasted 11.53. The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-0 win over SSU. Desire Waller leads the Bulldogs with 4.06 kills per set which is second in the MEAC. Against the Aggies, she finished with a match-high 23 kills. The Bulldogs front row has given them a 133.5-132.0 edge in blocks over its opponents. Melanie Williams has set the attack for SCSU and tallied 7.60 assists per game.

Potential Star: When McDaniel and Stamnes come together, they help lead the Aggies to tremendous success. They have the opportunity to cap off the regular season in style if they perform to their potential.

  •     The Aggies will be making their first trip to the MEAC Tournament since the 2007 season.
  •    S.C. State is competing for the last seed in the Southern Division for the MEAC Tournament. The Bulldogs and N.C. Central are both 3-5 in the league and will play each other on Friday.

From the Coach

“Our goal is to win on the road and close out the regular season on a good note. However playing on the road can be a battle but we anticipate giving it our all. We’re looking forward to Baltimore and we hope these games will prepare us. ”
