DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –North Carolina A&T senior right-hander Tim Luth had another shutout performance as the Aggies picked up another road win Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) baseball with a 3-0 win over Bethune-Cookman at Jackie Robinson Park.

Luth pitched a complete-game three-hit shutout that included three strikeouts and one walk. Earlier this season, Luth nearly pitched a no-hitter against Northern Kentucky before ending the game by surrendering just one hit and striking out six in the shutout win on Feb. 24.

Luth improved to 3-1 on the season and lowered his ERA to 3.40. Meanwhile, as a team, the Aggies improved to 12-9 overall and 3-1 in the MEAC. All four conference games have been played on the road.

N.C. A&T got all of its runs in the third inning. Junior Justin Dustin Baber singled to center and moved to second by stealing the base. A bunt single by freshman Donte Wade put runners on first and third before Wade stole second to put both runners in scoring position.

Senior A.J. Hunt singled home Baber to give the Aggies a 1-0 lead. Wade was thrown out, but Hunt was able to reach second on the throw. Junior Cam Williamson took advantage of Hunt being at second by doubling down the right field line to score the Aggies second run of the game.

Senior Dawnoven Smith also recorded an RBI double to score Williamson for a 3-0 Aggies advantage.

Luth got into his biggest trouble in the fifth inning when the Wildcats and two on with two out. But Luth got Joseph Fernando to ground out to end the threat. Luth went on to retire 11 straight Wildcats before hitting Nate Sterijevski with a pitch in the ninth inning. But Luth got Robert Bell to hit into a fielder’s choice and Over Torres to fly out to end the game.

Smith, Hunt and Baber had two hits apiece for the Aggies. Smith doubled twice. B-CU starter and RHP Anthony Maldonado (2-2) took the loss.

The two teams will play again Saturday with the first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
