CHARLOTTE – The rain limited the performances of the North Carolina A&T men’s and women’s track and field athletes at the Charlotte Invitational. Day one on Friday only saw a handful of Aggies compete.

Sophomore Perry Cabean placed sixth in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:16.44.  Senior Jasmine Baskerville placed seventh in the women’s javelin with a throw of 106-feet, 10-inches.

Due to the weather, the throwers were the only Aggie athletes to compete on Saturday.

Junior Sherri Owens placed second in the women’s shot put with a personal best of 40-feet, 3 1/4 inches. Sophomore Paige McIntosh placed third behind Owens at 37-feet, 7 ¾ inches. Sophomore Demetria Dickens placed seventh in the shot put at 33-feet, 10 ¼ inches.

The Aggies will be back in action May 1-3 at A&T’s Irwin Belk Track for the MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
