Aggies Overview:  The North Carolina A&T women’s basketball has experienced early success in the first part of the season. The Aggies are enjoying a six-game winning streak and plan to extend it to seven when it visits Asheville on Tuesday. The Aggies who have been in the confines of Corbett Sports Center for their last four games haven’t been on the road since Nov. 16. With a win over the Bulldogs, A&T will be off to its best start in program history. The last time A&T started the year 6-1 was the 2007-08 season when it posted a 25-8 record, was named the MEAC regular-season champions and made an appearance in the postseason WNIT. The Aggies are coming off their best game of the season when they defeated Virginia University of Lynchburg 99-32 and placed five players in double-figures. A&T is averaging 71.7 points per game and holding its opponents to 54.6 which is ranked 14th in the nation. The Aggies are also averaging 12.1 steals per game which is 15th in the nation.

UNC Asheville Overview: The Bulldogs have dropped their last two contests, a 67-59 decision to Campbell and 67-66 loss to USC Upstate. Asheville has recorded a 3-2 mark at Kimmel Arena. The Bulldogs are 1-0 against MEAC opponents this season with a 76-65 home win over N.C. Central. UNCA has been led in scoring by several players but finds its most consistent scorer in guard Brittany Gywn who leads the team with 11.9 points per game. Guard Shonese Jones is the only other player who is recording double-figures in scoring (10.7). Forward Jeannie Buckner is the Bulldogs' top rebounder, pulling down 6.0 rebounds per game.

Potential Star: Carter notched her fifth game in double-figure scoring in the Aggies last game. She only saw 17 minutes of playing time but dished out a game-leading nine assists and recorded four steals.

*A&T is 2-4 all-time against Asheville and has never won a game at Kimmel Arena.

From the Coach

“We know Asheville is good at home. We have to know that our streak is capable of ending if we don’t come focused. They may be a little bit more into their groove then we are considering that we haven’t played in 10 days. I’m hoping that there’s no fall-off on our end though. Their record may show 4-5 but they’ve been in every game they’ve played this season.” A&T head basketball coach Tarrell Robinson
