Time: 12 p.m.
Facility: Smith Center

Probable Starters: F Tracy King (5-10, Senior, 13.9 ppg), G Christina Carter (5-8, Redshirt-Sophomore, 13.8 ppg), G Adriana Nazario (5-8, Junior, 9.2 ppg), C Eboni Ross (6-3, Redshirt-Sophomore, 8.4 ppg), F Aprill McRae (6-3, Redshirt-Sophomore, 9.5 ppg)

Aggies Overview:  The North Carolina A&T women’s basketball team hopes to keep its winning streak alive as it looks for its eighth straight win as it visits George Washington on Saturday. The Aggies depend on its rigid defense which tops the MEAC in several categories and is ranked in the top 20 in the nation. However A&T’s offense has seen a balanced attack as it has placed five players in double-digit scoring in its last two games. The Aggies bench has added some spark by redshirt junior Debbie Smith. Smith added 14 points against UNC Asheville and was 6-for-12 from the field. She also grabbed five rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals. Senior DeAndra Davis recorded nine points and was 4-for-4 from the field. Nazario who made her third start of the season on Tuesday, came off the bench for the Aggies against VUL and tallied 15 points. A&T will have to depend on several players to take down the Colonials who have lost only one home game, a 68-67 decision to Towson.

Colonials Overview: George Washington has been tested early in the first several weeks of the season. The Colonials have faced three ranked opponents and came out with a 75-72 win over then-No.10 California back in November. GWU is 1-0 against MEAC teams this season with its latest win, a 75-60 decision over Morgan State last Saturday. Guard Megan Nipe has led the Colonials in scoring, averaging 18.1 points per game. Nipe is a threat behind the arc and has hit 21 of the team’s 46 3-pointers. Freshman forward Caira Washington has averaged 10.4 points per game and leads GWU on the glass with 7.4 rebounds per game. She has also notched a team-high 10 blocks. Guard Danni Jackson is pulling in 10.0 points per game and has recorded 44 assists.

Potential Star: Tracy King has been a consistent scorer for the Aggies all season and has recorded double-figures in scoring in seven of eight games. She’s also lethal on defense, yielding 5.4 rebounds per game, which is second on the team and has tabbed a team-high 29 steals.

News & Notes:

*The Aggies are on a seven-game winning streak and are off to their best start in program history. A&T has not lost since its season-opener against Quinnipiac on Nov. 8 when it fell 77-63 in the preseason WNIT.

*George Washington and A&T played for the first time in program history last season, where the Aggies won the opening meeting 67-56 at Corbett Sports Center.

*King and Ross both finished with 11 points against GWU last season. King also recorded a game-leading nine rebounds.

From the Coach

“George Washington, outside of Quinnipiac is by far going to be our toughest matchup at this point of the season. They’ve played a top 25 type of schedule and have already beaten a top 10 team this year. They’ve got key players who have had to sit out due to NCAA transfer regulations debuting against us on Saturday. We’re excited and look forward to this challenge before we take off for the Christmas break.” A&T head basketball coach Tarrell Robinson
