Aggies Overview:  After escaping Delaware State just two days ago, the North Carolina A&T women’s basketball team will make a quick trip to Durham to face its rival, N.C. Central on Wednesday. The Aggies have won the last seven games against the Eagles and hasn’t lost at McDougald-McLendon Gym since the 2001-02 season. In its last game, A&T had a hard time igniting its offense in the opening half where it scored just 14 points, making it the first time since Dec. 18, 2004 that it recorded less than 15 points in a half. However the backbone of the team, the defense, recorded a season-high 48 rebounds. Since the conference-opener, Ross has grabbed an average of 7.3 rebounds a game. Smith and Carter have led the Aggies in scoring in MEAC games, averaging 11.7 points per game.

Eagles Overview: NCCU is coming off a 75-61 win over Delaware State and is 2-1 in league play. The Eagles only conference loss was to Bethune-Cookman. NCCU’s offense is scoring 56.0 points per game and is controlled by a trio of upperclassmen. Guard Jessica Freeman leads the Eagles with 13.9 points per game, followed by forward Raquel Davis (13.4), and guard Khyra Conerly (10.2). Freeman has led NCCU in scoring nine times and also leads it in steals (44), 3-pointers (35), and free throw percentage (.800). The Eagles have distributed the ball evenly this season, as four players have recorded over 20 or more assists. Davis is fifth in the MEAC in rebounding (8.6) and Tiffany Gary is tenth (7.1). NCCU will be looking for its first MEAC win over A&T since joining the conference in 2010.

Potential Star: Carter’s scoring ability and talent of spreading the ball will be play a big factor against the Eagles on Wednesday.

From the Coach: "We have one day to get ready. We will look at some film and talk about some things that they do that we need to take them out of, like executing against their zone. Outside of that we just need to get ready to play and understand that this a rivalry." From head coach Tarrell Robinson
