GREENSBORO - Seniors JaQuayla Berry and Nikia Gorham will get another chance to win a post-season tournament.

By virtue of their 22-9 season and second-place 13-3 finish in the MEAC, the North Carolina A&T women's basketball team earned one of 31 automatic bids to the 2013 Women's National Invitational Tournament.

"We're extremely excited about earning an automatic bid to the WNIT. We came up short in our conference tournament and our goal of winning a MEAC championship this year, but the hard work my ladies put in during the regular season is rewarded by us still having a postseason to participate in. We will do our best to show great representation of our university and conference," said A&T head coach Tarrell Robinson.

The WNIT will announce the complete 64-team field on late Monday evening, so the Aggies will have to wait to find out who their opponents will be.   The first round games are scheduled for Wednesday, March 20 to Friday, March 22.  The title game will be broadcast live on Saturday, April 6 on CBS Sports Network.

It will be the second WNIT appearance for Berry, Gorham and guard Amber Calvin, who were all freshman when the Aggies posted a 2-1 record in the 2010 WNIT.  The Aggies became the first MEAC team and HBCU to win two consecutive basketball games in a national postseason tournament with victories against Wake Forest and Charlotte in the 2010 WNI.  The Aggies fell to Miami in the third round to exit the tournament.

This year, the Aggies will look to spend a little more time dancing at the WNIT.

The Aggies, who lost in the semifinal round of the MEAC Tournament to Howard on Friday, will be making their third WNIT appearance in program history, after competing in the 2008 and 2010 tournaments.  The Aggies are 2-2 overall in the WNIT.

A&T is also slated to compete in the Preseason WNIT to open up the 2013-14 season.
