A&T Goes For Ninth Straight Win Against S.C. State

Aggies Overview: The North Carolina A&T women’s basketball team has posted its longest winning streak of the season by winning eight straight games, following a 73-61 win over Savannah State on Saturday. After dropping their season opener on Nov. 8, the Aggies won seven consecutive games, stretching from Nov. 15 to Dec. 17. A&T has controlled most of its games in the first half and is 20-0 when leading at halftime. The Aggies also put up one of its best games on the glass on Saturday against the Tigers, as they finished with a season-high 56 rebounds. Eboni Ross and Debbie Smith tabbed double-figures in scoring for the second straight game. In conference games, Smith is averaging 10.4 points a game and Ross is recording 8.5.

Bulldogs Overview: S.C. State just dropped a 60-43 decision to N.C. Central on Saturday. The Bulldogs are just 2-12 away from Orangeburg and are averaging 59 points per game. Kourtney Williams leads SCSU in scoring (15.4) which is 10th in the MEAC. Cabriel Duren is second in scoring (11.0) and leads the team in assists with 88. Mykala Jones is the team’s top 3-point shooter and has hit 51 this season. The Bulldogs’ only conference wins are against UMES, Morgan State, Florida A&M, Delaware State, and Savannah State. Currently SCSU is 10th in the league standings.

News & Notes:

*A&T defeated SCSU 73-49 in Orangeburg on Feb. 17. The Aggies were led by King who finished with 18 points, followed by Bursey (16), and Davis (11).

*A&T is 35-30 all-time against the S.C. State.

*The Aggies are currently second in the MEAC standings behind Hampton who is 15-0 in the conference. A&T will visit Hampton on Thursday, March 6 for the regular-season finale.
