GREENSBORO – Expectations for North Carolina A&T running back Tarik Cohen are high for the 2014 season. The 2013 MEAC Rookie of the Year has already been named preseason first-team All-MEAC.

Recently, he received two more preseason honors. College Football Performance Awards added him to their FCS All-Purpose Performer of the Year Watch List. He was also named to the BOXTOROW All-American preseason team.

The CFPA Watch List includes 30 returning players. The CFPA utilizes objective scientific rankings where individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their respective teams. CFPA is now in its seventh season, utilizing its player and team performance index since 2008.

BOXTOROW’S preseason All-American team includes a few more Aggies other than Cohen. Fifth-year lineman William Ray Robinson III is also on the team along with fifth-year linebacker D’Vonte Grant.

Cohen led the MEAC and was 17th in the nation in rushing in 2013 with 104.4 yards per game. He became the first freshman in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards. He won a weekly MEAC honor five times as a freshman.

Robinson is a two-time All-MEAC selection at left tackle, earning first-team honors as a sophomore and second-team honors as a junior. He could move to the interior of the line this season at guard, but as a left tackle he has only surrendered one sack in more than 2,000 snaps played.

Grant led a defense that ranked No. 1 in the nation in rush defense and No. 4 in overall defense. He has led the Aggies in tackles over his first three seasons as an Aggie. He is a two-time second-team All-MEAC selection who made 102 tackles last season. Grant has also scored four defensive touchdowns in his career, a school record.

BOXTOROW is a nationally-syndicated radio show that appears on North Carolina A&T’s WNAA, 90.1 FM. There is also a BOXTOROW column in Jet Magazine and the organization does an HBCU weekly football poll.

The Aggies open the season Sunday, Aug. 31 at 11:45 a.m., in the annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Orlando, Fla. The game will be played at Bright House Networks Stadium and televised live on ESPN.
