Helped the Aggies to their first national ranking in program history as they ended the season 13th in the country … Was named a 2013-14 Academic All-NTCA honorable mention … Earned the team’s 2013-14 Cooperation Award … Team player with the will to work hard and improve.

2013-14 Season: Totaled a pinfall of 8,625, and an average of 178.8 in 48 matches … Helped the Aggies win the Hampton Roads Bowling Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 26 … Had her best outing toward the end of the season at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic on March 8 when she totaled 1,166 pins and averaged 193.3 in six matches … Finished 35th out of 199 bowlers at the same tournament … Helped the Aggies defeat No. 1 Arkansas 981-947 with a team-high 216 and No. 19 Alabama State 1005-940 with a game-high 225 …Tabbed a career-high 236 over N.C. Central at the MEAC Meet #3 on March 1 … Named to the Aggie Master’s Challenge all-tournament team after posting a 180.6 average in six games which was sixth out of 53 bowlers.

2012-13 Season: Totaled 7,369 total pinfall in 43 individual matches and 55 bakers matches…Averaged a 171.4 for the season…Her best tournament average was 182.2 in the Capital Classic…Bowled a season-best 235 in victory over Hampton at the Capital Classic…Bowled a 200 or better in six matches…Helped the Aggies to win two individual matches against nationally-ranked opponents in Bethune-Cookman and Valparaiso and nine bakers matches against nationally ranked opponents…Helped A&T finish in second place in the Frederick Underwood Classic, behind No. 4 Sam Houston State in January…Named to the 2012 Fall Dean’s List.

High School: Owens earned a Top 10 finish in the 2012 N.C. State High School Bowling Championship in individual play for Sanderson High School…Also helped her league team garner a first-place finish in the All-Stars Interstate Tournament, and as an individual she earned a first-place finish at the High Game at the Sectional Pepsi Tournament, a third-place finish in the 2012 State Pepsi Tournament and a second-place finish in the 2012 N.C. State Youth Championship Tournament with a 2,010 score… Qualified for the 2012 North Pointe Junior Gold Championships, a national tournament for the top youth bowlers in the country…Also earned a first-place finish in the 2011 Premier Jr. Gold Tournament, which allowed her to compete in the Nationals and North Point Tournament in Las Vegas in July 2011…Had a strong high school career in varsity golf as well, earning the team MVP award as a junior and being named All-Cap 8 conference as a junior and senior…Earned the Highest Female Average Award in the Buffaloe Lanes North Youth Bowling League as a junior and senior…Was a member of the N.C. All-Stars Interstate Traveling Bowling Team and won the Award for High Game and High Series as a junior.

Personal: Full name is Najah Jenae Owens…She is the daughter of Wenitra Merritt and Marvin Owens…She was born on Dec. 2, 1993 and is majoring in Mass Communications…Plans to pursue a career in broadcast production, working on a movie set or television show…Her interests includes music and computers…Her favorite television show is “106 & Park” and her favorite food is pasta…She spent the summer working at a bowling alley.
