GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T bowling team went undefeated in five traditional team games on the second day of the Wildcat Invitational.
“Today’s performance was better than yesterday’s,” head coach James Williams said. “I’m very pleased with the ladies’ determination and will.”
No. 20 A&T (44-20 overall) finished with a total pinfall of 8,121. The Aggies were led by sophomore Emily Strombeck who finished with the fifth highest average on Saturday with a 201. Srombeck was also named to the all-tournament team. Freshman Kristin Shinn was seventh overall after averaging 197.6.
The Aggies responded well to Saturday’s competition after posting a 2-3 mark during Friday’s baker games. A&T defeated No. 1 Arkansas State in its first game, 952-902 where Shinn threw a 223. Sophomore Briana Jackson led the Aggies in their 984-932 win over McKendree where she pinned a 219.
Strombeck’s 234 and Shinn’s 202 helped A&T defeat Alabama State 992-948. The Aggies recorded a dominating win in their 926 -794 rout over Tulane. A&T closed out the day with a 923-881 win over Southern where it was led by Shinn who rolled a 222.
Arkansas State leads the event with a pinfall of 8,526, followed by No. 3 Central Missouri (8467), McKendree (8165), Alabama State (8139), and Alabama A&M (8124) to round of the Top 5.
A&T will face Alabama A&M in the first round of bracket play on Sunday.
