GREENSBORO – After an unblemished weekend at the Aggie Master’s Challenge, sophomore Emily Strombeck was named the MEAC Bowling Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Strombeck who received the honor last week as well, led No. 17 A&T (60-20 overall) to a first-place finish at the Aggie Master’s Challenge at AMF Lanes on Sunday.
The sophomore was flawless in the three-day tournament where she averaged a 220.8 in five traditional team games on Saturday. Strombeck was named the tournament MVP on Sunday as she tallied the highest pinfall of 1,104 in a field of 53 bowlers.
She rolled five 200-plus games on Saturday including a game-high 254 in a 1014-677 win over Hampton. She also threw a 231 in the Aggies’ 1028-830 victory against Winston-Salem.
Strombeck has been named the MEAC Bowling Athlete of the Week four times this season.
The Aggies will compete at the final MEAC Meet of the season beginning on Saturday, March 1 in Durham.
