GREENSBORO – After a two week hiatus the N.C. A&T bowling team will head back to the lanes beginning on Friday, Nov. 22 for the Virginia Union Invitational in Midlothian, Va.

The three day tournament will start at 9 a.m. each morning and will conclude on Sunday, Nov. 24.

The Aggies (12-6 overall) have kicked off the season with a great start with the help of several standouts. Sophomore Emily Strombeck has averaged 188 in traditional games for the Aggies in the last two meets. Senior Cherise Poole appeared in the MEAC meet two weeks ago and led the team with a 186 average. Freshmen MacKenzie Robinson (181.8) and Kristin Shinn (174.3) have also contributed considerably to the Aggies lineup.

In the time off, A&T has been continuing to work hard in practice and focusing on the small things which will help it to improve.

“I’m not sure if the time off will have any effect on the team,” head coach James Williams said. “We have pretty much kept to our routine as if we had bowled last weekend. The team has been working on understanding the various lane conditions. We've continued focus on our spare shooting and our ability to throw a quality first shot.”

The Aggies strategy for this weekend is to stay focused, support each other, and execute the game plan.

Following the Virginia Union Invitational, A&T will travel to Daytona Beach for the second MEAC meet of the season, hosted by Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 7-8.
