GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T bowling team opened the Virginia Union University (VUU) Invitational by going undefeated in four baker games on Friday afternoon.
The Aggies tallied a pinfall of 3,724 and are in first place following Friday’s games. Behind A&T is No. 13 Sacred Heart (3,715), Bowie State (3,585), St. Francis (3,420), N.C. Central (3,189), Virginia State (3,107), Virginia Union (2,802), Winston-Salem State (2,791), St. Augustine’s (2,646), Chowan (2,334), and New Jersey City (2,171).
“Our performance today was good,” head coach James Williams said. “The ladies stayed consistent. Going undefeated was just a byproduct of their focus. I just want them to keep the goal in sight. We still have a mountain to climb this weekend.”
A&T defeated No. 17 St. Francis 4-0 with a score of 719-605 and tabbed a 207 in the third game. The Aggies also took down Sacred Heart in a close game but came out on top, 707-699.
A&T blasted by host Virginia Union with a score of 710-579. The Aggies posted a 215 against VUU in the third game. A&T capped off the day with a 855-719 victory over NCCU where it finished with a 246 and 236 in two games.
The invitational will resume Saturday morning at 9.
