GREENSBORO – Another outstanding day for the North Carolina A&T bowling team allowed it to win the Aggie Master’s Challenge, Sunday afternoon at AMF Lanes.

No. 17 A&T (60-20 overall) was perfect at the three-day tournament where it finished with a 13-0 mark.

Sophomore Emily Strombeck was named the MVP on Sunday after finishing with the highest average of 220.8 in Saturday’s traditional team games.  Additionally, freshmen Kristin Shinn  (210.8) and MacKenzie Robinson (193.6) along with sophomore Najah Owens (180.6) were named to the all-tournament team.

The Aggies capped off the tournament with three best-of-seven bracket style matches where they defeated UAB 4-2 in the first match. A&T took down Shaw in four straight games and finished the day with a 4-1 win over NCCU.

“The team performed well,” head coach James Williams said. “Today we were efficient, didn’t waste opportunities, and made the proper adjustments. I liked the communication and teamwork the team displayed this weekend.”

NCCU finished second in the tournament, followed by UAB, Fayetteville State, Morgan State, Winston-Salem State, Hampton, and Shaw.

A&T will compete in the final MEAC meet of the season on Saturday, Mar. 1-2 in Durham.
