NC A&T Cross Country BIO
 Janessa Benn

She is an outstanding student-athlete who does an excellent job in the classroom and on the track...She is a valuable asset to the Aggies in both cross country and track and field...In 2010-11, she was named Indoor Track and Field Athlete with the Most Potential and Outdoor Track and Field Most Valuable Player...Attended one of the prestigious high schools in Pennsylvania, where she had the opportunity to take college level courses....As a freshman, Been earned Cross Country Rookie of the Year.

2012 Season: Did not compete

2011 Season: Competed in five races…Finished with a personal best 18:47.44 at the NCCU Invitational on Oct. 15 in Durham…Placed third at the HBCU Challenge in Cary, N.C., on Oct. 1 with a time of 19:14…Placed 16th in 19:47.48 at the MEAC Championships in Princess Anne, Md., on Oct. 29.  

2010 Season: Competed in five races…Placed eighth in 19:54.3 at the HBCU Classic in Cary, N.c., on Oct. 2…Finished the NCCU Eagle Classic in 19:55.56, for the best time by an A&T runner…Placed seventh at the Hagan Stone Park Invitational in Greensboro on Sept. 25 with a time of 19:55.9.  

 2009 Season: Was the N.C. A&T top performer at the 2009 Elon Cross Country Invitational...Finished 14th out of 78 runners at the 2010 MEAC Cross Country Championship.

High School: Competed in varsity track and field for four years at The Ellis School in Pittsburgh... Earned Cross Country MVP honors from 2006-2008 and also earned the Track and Field MVP award in 2008 and 2009.

Personal:  Full name is Janessa Benn...She is a civil engineering major with hopes of building a sustainable world for generations to come... She is the daughter of Jeffery and E. Judith Benn and was born Dec. 1, 1990.
