Greensboro, N.C. -  This weekend the North Carolina A&T men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Princess Anne, Md., to compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The Aggies are coming off from an impressive showing at last weekend's North Carolina Central Classic Invitational meet where both the men and women had improved times.

"I have been very pleased with our progress this season," said associate head coach James Daniels. "In a short period of time our student-athletes have developed into a competitive cross country program. I am extremely proud of their efforts and ambassadorship."

For the women, junior Janessa Benn is ranked fourth in the MEAC top 20, with her best time of 18:47.44, which she ran in the NCCU women's 5k race. Junior Paris Simmons is ranked 17th amongst MEAC runners with a top time of 26:45.58. He ran in the NCCU Classic men's 8k race.

"On the women's side Janessa Benn, Ariana Betts, Samira Johnson, and Kristin Rush have all done well and improved significantly throughout the season," said Daniels. "They are very excited about this weekend."

Danzeto Cephas, Christian Harrison, Saeed Jones, Steve Liggins-who did not run last season - and Olumese Omozokpi have taken every opportunity to get better and are running very well at this moment, Daniels added.
