CHARLOTTE -- The cross country teams finished their fourth meet of the season with outstanding accomplishments. The men’s and women’s teams had a number of personal best times at the Charlotte Invitational at McAlpine Park. Saturday’s meet featured more than 400 competitors.

In her first career 6k race, redshirt senior Janessa Benn had the Aggies best time, finishing in 22:59. Overall, she finished 56th out of 206 runners. Finishing second for the women was sophomore Janay Ferrell with a time of 24:40. Freshman sprinter Daniqua Dye has also made some improvements throughout the season finishing third for the women with a time of 26:53.

On the men’s side, freshman Darren White led the Aggies with a finishing time of 26:50 in the 8k. Teammate Franky Mills was less than a minute behind him with a finishing time of 27: 23. Junior Christian Harrison wasn’t far behind with a time of 27:26.

The Aggies are showing tremendous improvement despite having a team where some runners do not have a cross country background. Junior Dyronne Mabry, a 400-meter runner during A&T’s track and field seasons, ran a personal-best 28:00 Saturday at McAlpine Park.

Women’s javelin thrower Jasmine Baskerville competed in her first-ever cross country meet on Saturday, crossing the tape at 32:37.

The Aggies return to action in the HBCU Challenge, Saturday, Oct. 5 in Cary, N.C.
