BERLIN, Md. (October 19, 2017) – The North Carolina A&T men’s golf team completed the Maryland Eastern Shore Collegiate Challenge on Wednesday with a fifth-place finish at the par 72, 6,581-yard Ocean City Golf Club.
The Aggies played three rounds of golf for the week with the second round featuring three Aggies shooting in the 70’s. Senior Luis Acevedo led the way for the Aggies by finishing tied for third. Acevedo shot a 6-over par 72 for the tournament to finish tied with Savannah State’s Tray Odom.
Acevedo shot par on Tuesday while freshman Austin Trent and junior Cody Lissner also shot in the 70’s in the second round with a 75 and 79 respectively. The first round also featured three players in the 70’s as Acevedo led the way again by shooting 1-over. Lissner and freshman Casey Lindo shot 78’s in the first round. N.C. A&T had its worst round on Wednesday. Acevedo shot 5-over in the final round, and Lissner shot a 79. But the other three Aggies – freshman Cameron Bryant, Lindo and Trent – shot in the 80’s.
Savannah State won the event by shooting a plus-30 over the three-round event. The Tigers were followed by Hampton, North Carolina Central and host MDES. The Aggies are scheduled to play in the VSU Trojan Fall Classic hosted by Virginia State, Oct. 23-24.
