PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (May 12, 2018) – After Day 2 of the PGA Minority Championship, the North Carolina A&T men’s golf team is in eighth place while senior Luis Acevedo remains in the top-10 in 10th place after 45 holes played.

Teams played 27 holes on Saturday at the par-72, 6,854-yard Wanamaker Golf Course at the PGA Village. During their second round on Friday, the Aggies shaved 10 strokes off their first-day score to post a 315. Over the first nine holes of the third round, the Aggies shot a 20-over 164 to end the day.

N.C. A&T is 84-over for the tournament. Bethune-Cookman leads the tournament by 53 strokes at 12-under 708 followed by Savannah State (761), Incarnate Word (762), Florida A&M (768) and Hampton (781) to round out the top-5.

Acevedo had an excellent second round shooting an even-par 72 before shooting a 3-over 39 during the first nine holes of Round 3. Acevedo was terrific on the front nine. He birdied No. 2, a par-4, 428-yard hole before nailing a birdie putt on the 179-yard, par-3 No. 6 to finish 2-under on the front nine. Acevedo parred the final three holes on the front nine to finish with a bogey-free front nine.

His first bogey came on the par-4, 12 but returned with a par on the par-5, 551-yard No. 13. He bogeyed 14 before return to his birdie ways on the 354-yard No. 16 par-4 and finish out the round with a 72. Acevedo’s next nine included four pars, two birdies, two bogeys and a triple bogey.

Junior Cody Lissner is tied for 22nd after 45 holes. He finished with one birdie on the day. Freshmen Casey Lindo and Edward Trent Austin dropped their scores from the first day. Both men shot 85’s on Day 1 but Lindo finished with a second-round 82 and Austin closed the second round with an 83.

Rounds 3 and 4 will be played Sunday to close out the tournament.
