NEWNAN, Ga. – Four North Carolina A&T men’s golfers finished in the top-20 as the Aggies finished in third place in their season opener at the Black College Hall of Fame Golf Invitational.
Sophomore Diego Gonzalez led the team with an eighth-place finish as he carded a two-day score of 1-over 145. Gonzalez shot a 1-under 71 in the first round and a 2-over 74 in the second round.
Senior Casey Lindo and sophomore Xavier Williams finished in a tie for 15th place with a two-round score of 7-over 151. Lindo shot a 7-over 79 in the first round but moved up 15 spots in the second round after shooting an even-par 72 in the second round, which was tied for the third-best score on the day.
Williams moved up in the standings from day one to day two. He shot a 5-over 77 in the first round but shot a 2-over par 74 in the second round to move up eight spots. Junior Cody Lissner finished in a tie for 17th place with a two-round score of 8-over 152.
He shot a 5-over 77 in the first round and shot a 3-over 75 in the second round to move up six spots to finish in the top-20. Junior Stefan Holczer finished the tournament in 36th place after a two-round score of 165 as he shot a 4-over 76 in the first round.
The Aggies finished the first round in fourth place after a 301 but moved up a spot after shooting a 295 in the second round for a two-round score of 20-over 596.
N.C. A&T heads north for the UMES Invitational in Princess Anne, Md., from Oct. 15-16.
