Mayhew Earns More Preseason Recognition

GREENSBORO - North Carolina A&T running back Mike Mayhew picked up two more preseason recognitions.

Boxtorow placed him on its preseason All-American team, while Phil Steele's Magazine named him as a preseason All-MEAC selection. Earlier this summer, Mayhew was named preseason MEAC Offensive Player of the Year along with preseason first team.

FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW airs on radio stations around the country, including A&T's WNAA 90.1 FM. Boxtorow Lunch airs Friday from 1-2 p.m., eastern on Sirius XM Channel 141. The media outlet tirelessly covers historically black college and university athletics.

Phil Steele's Magazine is one of the foremost authorities on college football. The publication releases a preseason team for each Division I Football Bowl Subdivision and Football Championship Subdivision school.

Joining Mayhew on Phil Steele's preseason MEAC team is senior defensive end Tony Mashburn. Mashburn led the Aggies in tackles for loss (12.5) and sacks (5.5). Mayhew is one of the premier backs in Division I-FCS. He led the MEAC in rushing in 2011, and needs just 140 yards to become A&T's all-time leading rusher.

The Aggies open the 2012 season on Sept. 1 when they travel to Conway, S.C., to face Coastal Carolina at 6 p.m. Their first home game is Sept. 8 against West Virginia State at 6 p.m.
