GREENSBORO (January 31, 2018) – North Carolina A&T State University track and field indoor sprinters earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference weekly honors this week. Junior Rodney Rowe was men’s track performer of the week by the conference, while senior India Brown earned women’s track performer of the week. The men’s and women’s teams have four weekly honors apiece this season.
The Aggies garnered eight first-place finishes and 47 top-10 finishes at the Liberty Kickoff hosted by Liberty University last weekend.
Senior Rodney Rowe moved to the top of the charts in the MEAC as he won the 200 meters in 21.03 at the Liberty Kickoff. His mark ranks 14th nationally. Rowe is ranked 11th in the conference in the 60 running 6.84 at the UAB Vulcan Invitational in mid-January.
Senior India Brown put forth an all-around weekend at the Liberty Kickoff with a pair of first-place titles in the 60 and 200. Brown won the 60 in 7.52 and followed it up with a winning time of 23.86 in the 200. Brown, who already owns the second-fastest time in the 60 this season amongst MEAC performers, ran the fourth-fastest time while posting the second-fastest time in the 200. Her time in the 200 ranks 37th nationally.
“Both Rodney and India are hardworking, respectful student-athletes who love track and field and also love to compete,” said director of track and field programs Duane Ross. “I am proud of what they’ve accomplished in their careers. Bigger things are on the way for them in track and in life.”
N.C. A&T has four scheduled meets prior to the MEAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 15-17 at the PG County Sports & Learning Complex. Next, the Aggies are at the JDL Fast Track for the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem.
