Great defensive player who has the agility and speed to get to balls in the gaps … Makes smart plays in the infield and has a quick release on the ball …Those same qualities make her a solid offensive player who is good at hitting for contact … Named the team’s 2014 All-Around Player.

2014 Season: Played in 41 games with 39 starts at the shortstop position … Hit .231 and led the team in runs with 23 … Was fourth on the team in hits (28), second in doubles (six) and finished with six RBI … Was 4-for-4 in stolen bases which was also second on the team … Posted eight multi-hit games and was on a seven-game hitting streak from Feb. 22-March 7 … Recorded a season-high three hits and scored a run against Towson on March 19  … Was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles against UNC Greensboro on March 5 … Scored two runs on four occasions … Posted a .947 fielding percentage at shortstop.

2013 Season: Started and appeared in all 44 games  … Posted a .213 batting average that included 27 hits with a home run and four doubles …Scored 11 runs and recorded 15 RBI …Had four games where she finished with two hits against, including UMES on Feb. 24, Stony Brook on March 2 and Florida A&M in an April 6 doubleheader … Hit her first career homer, a two-run shot over right center field in an 11-10 win over UMES on Feb. 24 … Tallied a season-high three RBI against Stony Brook on March 2 …Was 6-for-11 with runners on third and less than two outs.

High School: Competed at the varsity level for four seasons…Was a three-time team MVP winner…Was named to Co-MVP for her league…She was named to the league All-Team her junior year.

Personal: Full name is Alejandra Barcenas…Her parents are Maria Crespo and Ramon Sanchez…She has three siblings, Daniela Barcenas, Christian Villagomez and Adriana Sanchez…She is a criminal justice major who plans to coach after graduation…Her other interests include music…Spent the summer traveling and playing softball…Chose to come to A&T to experience living on her own…Her favorite television show is “Dexter” and her favorite foods are Chinese and wings…Says the best part about A&T athletics is that they’re all a big family…She is the first in her family to attend college.
