GREENSBORO (October 13, 2017) – North Carolina A&T head softball coach Kenya Peters released her team’s 2018 schedule on Monday. It includes a fall game against Winston-Salem State, four competitive tournaments and the usual stiff competition from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division.
The Aggies will face the WSSU Rams on Oct. 14 in a doubleheader at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex at noon and 2 p.m., as they get prepared for the 2018 season. Eight days later the Aggies will travel a few miles down the street to compete in a tournament at Guilford College on Oct. 22. The Aggie game times are noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., on Oct. 22.
Four months after their fall game, the Aggies will enter their 25th season of fast-pitch softball by playing in the College of Charleston Invitational Tournament, Feb. 9-11. N.C. A&T’s next competitive undertaking will be their own tournament – the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational, Feb. 16-18. The teams N.C. A&T invited are Howard, Cleveland State and Maryland Eastern Shore.
Three days after the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational, the Aggies will stay at home to play at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex as Gardner-Webb comes to town on Feb. 21 to play a doubleheader (1 & 3pm). N.C. A&T returns to tournament play again March 2-4 at the Belmont Tournament in Nashville, The Aggies will step out of tournament play on March 7 to face MEAC school Norfolk State in a non-conference doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m., at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex.
They return to non-conference tournament play, March 9-11, at UNC Wilmington. The Aggies will play at UNC Greensboro (March 14, 5 p.m.) and against Liberty at home (March 20, 4 p.m.) before starting conference play against South Carolina State in a 1 p.m., March 24 doubleheader at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex. The three-game series will conclude on March 25 at noon.
N.C. A&T’s other home three-game conference series are against Bethune-Cookman (March 30-March31) and North Carolina Central (April 28-29). The Aggies go on the road for conference series against Florida A&M (April 7-8) and Savannah State (April 21-22). In the midst of conference play, the Aggies will play non-conference foe Elon twice, at home on March 27 and at Elon on April 24. Western Carolina comes to the Aggies Softball Complex on April 18 for a 3 p.m., doubleheader. Campbell will serve as the regular-season finale on May 3 at 5 p.m., at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex.
