GREENSBORO (March 29, 2018) – The North Carolina A&T women's tennis team is set to take on 19th-ranked Wake Forest (15-5) 4 p.m., Saturday at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Facility.

The Aggies are coming off their first win of the season as they defeated rival N.C. Central 7-0. N.C. A&T heads to Winston-Salem this weekend with a total of 19 singles wins and 12 doubles victories in 2018. In singles matches, it is senior Khalia Powell, juniors Fabiana Ramirez and Angelica Martinez sitting atop the statistics with four wins apiece. On the doubles side, Powell and Ramirez along with the team of Martinez and Kanishka Chawla each have four wins.

A&T coach William Crutchfield has tried multiple doubles combinations throughout the season, and he has now found the best combinations. Powell and Ramirez have hit it off as a duo sitting at 4-4 while Martinez and Chawla took a little longer to mesh as they enter Saturday's match 4-9.

N.C. A&T will definitely need the added momentum as they take on Wake Forest for the first time in the program's history. The Demon Deacons are sitting above .600 in both singles and doubles. Senior Courtney Meredith leads the team with 23 singles wins while junior Emma Davis is on her heels with 22. Wake Forest has won seven of eight with their only loss in that span to Florida State, 5-2 on March 23.
