Greensboro (January 26 2018) – The North Carolina A&T women’s tennis team is gearing up to face Wofford 1 p.m., Saturday at the Aggie Tennis Complex.
The Aggies enter the match ng the contest 0-2 after losing to Elon and Radford to open the season. Even though they are only two matches into the season, the Aggies are already showing improvement. They took weaknesses they noticed against Elon and worked to prepare for the Radford match, the Aggies home opener.
Senior Nadia Hilton-Adams captured the Aggies first singles win of the season in the Radford match with three others taking Highlander individuals to a third set. The Aggies now return home for their second straight home match with a Wofford team that is 1-0 on the season after a win over USC Upstate.
Last year’s matchup between the Terriers and the Aggies was won by the Terriers, 6-1, at the Reeves Tennis Center in Spartanburg, S.C. The Aggies lone win came from Fabiana Ramirez. The Terriers finished last season 11-13. They return juniors Cassidy Hicks, Curran Carver, and senior Lauren Reid from last season. Hicks who played in the No. 2 spot last year is now in the No. 1 spot, while Carver went from No. 6 to No.3 this year and Reid remains at the No. 4 spot in there first match of the season.
The Aggies have taken every advantage of the seasonably warm weather this week allowing them to practice on the tennis courts rather than inside. The Terriers will be facing a tough and determined team in Aggieland on Saturday.
