GREENSBORO (March 4, 2018) – The North Carolina A&T women's tennis team will head south for spring break to compete in the Georgia Gwinnett’s Grizzly Spring Break Invitational in Lawrenceville, Ga.
The Aggies (0-7) head into spring break seeking their first win of the season. It has been seniors Nadia Hilton-Adams and Khalia Powell that have been able to record a win each in singles thus far. Hilton-Adams found success at No. 5 on Jan. 22 against Radford. Powell was a winner at No. 2 singles.
In doubles, the two have also paired up to grab a win at the No. 2 doubles spot. Renata Ruiz Rabadan and Fabiana Ramirez have found success at No. 1 doubles recording a win while Kanishka Chawla and Angelica Martinez have won twice this season at the No. 3 doubles position.
The Aggies first matchup will be on March 6 at 9 a.m. against Olivet Nazarene. The Tigers are 0-1on the season with a 7-1 loss to Indiana Wesleyan. That point was made by senior Victoria Monakhova playing at the No. 1 singles position.
N.C. A&T faces off against tournament-host Georgia Gwinnett on March 7 at 10 a.m. The Grizzlies boast an undefeated season thus far at 4-0. Their four wins came over USC Aiken, Xavier, Bluefield State, and LSU Alexandria. The Grizzlies have four players that are undefeated in singles play with the wins that span over No. 3-6 singles positions.
On Thursday, March 8 at 9 a.m. the Aggies conclude spring break with a match against Wolves of Cardinal Stritch. The Wolves are 3-3 on the season. Like their men’s team, they too are coming off a huge 6-3 win over South Dakota State.
