GREENSBORO (November 16, 2016) – Junior outside hitter Samara Brown was recognized by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference as a first-team all-conference volleyball selection on Thursday after leading the Aggies in kills this season. The MEAC released its all-conference teams on Thursday with teams selected based on votes from head coaches and sports information directors.

"We are very happy for Sam for being named to the first team All-MEAC volleyball team," said head coach Hal Clifton.  "She has worked very hard over the summer and this season to increase her offensive abilities as well as her all around play.  After graduating Brooke (Stamnes), Sam stepped in and filled the role of passer and attacker.  It's nice that other coaches recognized her for her efforts."

Brown has consistently been a leader for the Aggies both in enthusiasm and ability.  She finished the regular season ranked third in the MEAC in kills per set (3.53) and totaled 304 kills.  Brown also finished second in the conference in points per set scored (4.08) behind 2016 MEAC Player of the Year Khalia Donaldson.

Brown was named MEAC Co-Player of the Week on Nov. 7 for her strong performances against Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M on the road.  She had her fifth double-double of the season against the Wildcats and added 15 kills to her weekend total against the Rattlers.
