Aggie Volleyball Earns Academic Honors
GREENSBORO (November 21, 2016) – North Carolina A&T volleyball had five players recognized by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for their strong academic performance throughout the 2015-2016 year. Samara Brown, Kayla Finnerty, Liz Martino, Carena Meadows and Keniah Rivera were among 73 All-Academic selections who maintained a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or higher.
In addition to their accolades in the classroom, these five Aggies were leaders on the court as well. Brown was first on the team with 315 total kills (3.54 per set) and service aces with 25 (.28 per set). A three-time All-Academic athlete, Martino led N.C. A&T in assists all four years on campus, averaging 5.61 assists per set (471 total) as a senior followed by sophomore Finnerty, who totaled 259 this season.
Defensively, Rivera had 322 total digs with a .930 receiving percentage. Meadows, a sophomore psychology major, saw playing time in 14 matches with six service aces. The Aggies advanced to their fourth consecutive MEAC championship tournament during the 2016 season, finishing the season 9-15 (6-4 MEAC).
