Volleyball Releases 2017 Schedule
GREENSBORO (April 6, 2017) – North Carolina A&T head volleyball coach Hal Clifton released the Aggies 2017 schedule on Thursday that includes four tournaments and 10 home matches at Moore Gymnasium. The Aggies are in the midst of spring practice before opening the season in August.
For the second straight season the Aggies will open the season against Southwestern Athletic Conference schools as they start the season at the ISTAP College Cup in Birmingham, Ala., August 25-26. Last season the Aggies faced Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Jackson State and Texas Southern in Montgomery Ala. In 2017, the Aggies will face Alabama State, Alabama A&M and Mississippi Valley State in Birmingham, Ala.
The Aggies home opener comes on September 1 against Delaware State when the Aggies participate in the annual Spartan-Aggie Invitational co-hosted by UNC Greensboro. During the Spartan-Aggie invite, the Aggies will also host UNCG (Sept. 1) and Presbyterian College (Sept. 2). The Aggies other tournaments are the Jacksonville State Invitational in Jacksonville, Ala., Sept. 8-9, and the North/South Challenge in Norfolk, Va., Sept. 22-23.
The Aggies other non-conference home matches are Campbell on Sept. 12 and Gardner-Webb on Oct. 3. Conference competition opens on Sept. 28 in Durham against North Carolina Central. Conference home matches include Savannah State on Oct. 6, South Carolina State on Oct. 8, Bethune-Cookman on Nov. 10 and Florida A&M on Nov. 12. The 2017 MEAC Volleyball Championship Tournament is Nov. 18-20 in Princess Anne, Md. N.C. A&T is coming off a 9-15 season where they went 6-4 in the MEAC. N.C. A&T is after the program’s first-ever MEAC title. They return first-team All-MEAC selection Samara Brown. N.C. A&T also returns Jasmine Lindor who finished third in the conference in blocks per game (0.96).
