NORTH CAROLINA A&T AGGIES: North Carolina A&T women’s basketball begins the 2019-20 season with a short trip to Raleigh, N.C., to face No. 14 N.C. State on Wednesday.
Expectations are big for the Aggies once again. N.C. A&T was the first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) school to finish undefeated since Hampton did it in 2012-13 as the Aggies went 16-0. The Aggies expected to win the conference again. The Aggies are looking to win their fourth regular-season MEAC title in five years.
Despite going undefeated last season, N.C. A&T lost in the semifinals of the MEAC tournament leaving them hungry for more as the 2019-20 season progresses.
NORTH CAROLINA STATE WOLFPACK: The Wolfpack was the last undefeated team last season going 21-0 before suffering 64-51 loss to North Carolina. NCSU went 1-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) tournament last season with a loss to No. 3 Louisville 78-68 and went 2-1 in the NCAA tournament and were eliminated by No. 8 Iowa 79-61.
NCSU loses its top scorer in Kiara Leslie who averaged 15.9 points per game. They do return Grace Hunter who averaged 14.6 points per game and Elissa Cunane who averaged 13.6 points per game. The Wolfpack also lost its top two rebounders in DD Rogers (7.9 rpg) and Leslie (7.2 rpg).
