GREENSBORO (August 24, 2017) – The North Carolina A&T women’s basketball team released its 2017-18 schedule on Thursday. It features 15 home games, two opponents from Power Five conferences, three non-conference home games against Division I in-state foes and their usual competitive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference slate of games.

“Every year it is our goal to provide a competitive non-conference schedule that will prepare us for conference play,” said Tarrell Robinson who is entering his sixth season as the Aggies head coach. “I think it will give us some early tests and prepare us for our MEAC schedule.”

N.C. A&T plays at home in the remodeled Corbett Sports Center for three of their first four games starting with Georgia Southern on Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. The Aggies next challenge will be an entertaining local matchup against Elon, the defending CAA champions, on Nov. 13 at 5:30 p.m., at Corbett. A rematch against Auburn follows as the Aggies travel to face the Power Five school out of the SEC on Nov. 16. Auburn defeated the Aggies last season in Corbett. N.C. A&T then returns home to face Appalachian State in a 5:30 p.m., contest on Nov. 21.

Thanksgiving for N.C. A&T women’s basketball will take place in Charlottesville, Va., as the Aggies participate in the Cavalier Thanksgiving Tournament, Nov. 25-26. Both N.C. A&T opponents in the tournament – Duquesne and Harvard – reached the WNIT last season. They close out November with a rematch against the University of Tennessee Martin in Tennessee on Nov. 30. The Aggies defeated UT Martin last season in Corbett.

The majority of the Aggies December will be spent in Greensboro. They face Division II St. Augustine’s at home on Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m., before hosting the SEC’s Georgia Bulldogs on Dec. 14 at 5:30 p.m. It will mark the second straight season the Aggies have hosted a Power Five school after UCLA and Auburn visited last season. Western Carolina closes out the Aggies’ 2017 in Corbett when the Catamounts play there on Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m. The calendar year ends with the Aggies going to Athens, Ohio to face Ohio University in a Dec. 28 rematch. The Aggies defeated the Bobcats 63-57 last season in Corbett.

N.C. A&T’s final non-conference game comes on Jan. 2 with Division II St. Andrews at home. The conference season begins with a Saturday home game against Norfolk State on Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. In total, the Aggies will face three teams who made the NCAA tournament in 2017 in Elon, Hampton and Auburn. Four teams – Bethune-Cookman, Duquesne, Harvard and Ohio – made the WNIT.

The Aggies were 14-18 overall, 8-8 in the MEAC and reached the conference tournament semifinals for the fifth straight season.

“We know that we have a challenge in front of us, but we are excited to get started,” said Robinson who enters the season with a 99-58 career record. “We can’t wait to see all of our Lady Aggie fans come out this season and see the ladies compete.”
