Foy, Hill Earn Weekly Honors
GREENSBORO (December 14, 2017) – North Carolina A&T women’s basketball landed a pair on the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference weekly basketball honor roll. Sophomore C’Coriea Foy (6-foot, G, Fayetteville, NC) was named MEAC Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week while sophomore Le’on Hill (6-2, F, Columbia, SC) was named Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office. This is the second straight week an Aggie was named Defensive Player of the Week following Alexus Lessears’ honor.
The Aggies posted a school-record 68 rebounds snapping a three-game losing streak in an impressive 94-42 win over Division II St. Augustine’s Monday night.
“I’m extremely excited for both young women because they have shown such a focus on getting better,” said N.C. A&T head coach Tarrell Robinson. “This will hopefully encourage them to keep working. I feel that both young women will grow in their role and will be just as productive for us every week.”
Foy scored a game-high 20 points in the Aggies win over St. Augustine’s, while also grabbing a season-high eight rebounds, dishing out a season-high five assists and grabbing a season-high eight steals. She went 3-for-8 from 3-point range in the decisive victory. Foy leads the Aggies in scoring (13.9), field goals made (5.1), field goals attempts (15.3) and steals (3.0) while ranking second in minutes played (27.4), free throws made (2.0) and 3-pointers made (6.0). She has scored in double figures in six-of-eight games this season, has three consecutive double-digit scoring games and finished with her second 20-plus point performance vs. SAU.
Hill had an all-around excellent defensive game against SAU on Monday, recording career highs in rebounds with nine (eight on the defensive end), as well as steals with six and blocked shots with three. Hill is second on the team in both blocked shots (0.9) and rebounds (5.1).
