GREENSBORO (March 2, 2018) – North Carolina A&T placed two women’s basketball players on two of the three 2018 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women’s basketball all-conference team, announced Friday by the conference.  C’Coriea Foy (6-foot, G, SO, Fayetteville, NC) was named second-team All-MEAC, while Alexus Lessears (6-3, C, SO, Cleveland, Ohio) was a third-team selection.  

Foy and Lessears helped the Aggies (20-8, 15-1 MEAC) win their eighth regular-season title and their second in the past three years. The 20-win season marks the fourth for N.C. A&T coach Tarrell Robinson over his six-year tenure. It is third time in program history the Aggies have won 15 of 16 conference games.

Foy made All-MEAC ranks 10th in the conference in scoring (13.2), third in steals (2.6), sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.1), tied for eighth in assists (3.0) and tied for ninth in 3-point field goals made (1.6). During the season, Foy led the Aggies in scoring, steals, assists (3.1) and minutes played (27.6). In 12 games, she led the Aggies in both scoring and in steals. Foy finished with 19 double-figure scoring games including five games with 20-plus points. Her top scoring performance of the season was a 31-point effort against St. Andrews, earning her MEAC player of the week honors and the honor of being the first player in the Robinson era to score 30-plus points.

Lessears is second in the conference in field goal percentage (.486), third in both rebounding (9.2) and defensive rebounds (5.5), fourth in offensive rebounding (3.7) and was ninth in blocked shots (1.3). Lessears was the team-leader in rebounds, blocked shots and in field goal percentage. She has six double-double performances, 12 double-digit scoring games and 11 double-figure rebounding games. Lessears was recognized twice this season as the MEAC Defensive Player of the Week.

The Aggies clinched the No. 1 seed heading into the 2018 MEAC Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va. The Aggies first game in the tournament will be Wednesday at noon against the winner of No. 8 N.C. Central and No. 9 S.C. State, a Tuesday game scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
