Robinson, Shinn Named First-Team All-MEAC
GREENSBORO (March 22, 2017) – The two North Carolina A&T senior bowlers have been leading the way for the Aggies throughout the season and MacKenzie Robinson and Kristin Shinn received recognition from the conference for their performance in their final year. Both players were named to the 2016-17 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference first-team all-conference team as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors.
Robinson earned her third career first-team honor from the conference. Robinson was voted Preseason Bowler of the Year after an impressive junior year showing, which she followed up with a commanding senior season. She had a team leading 194.87 average over 46 games played and put away a season-high 268 game in the third MEAC Southern Division Meet of the season on Mar. 4, which earned her MEAC Bowler of the Week honors.
Robinson has bowled a total of 948 frames with a 44.1 percent strike percentage and she has picked up 64.6 percent of her spares in 531 attempts. She recorded a strike on her 10th frame 48.4 percent of the time (192 attempts). In traditional play, she has a 46.1 strike percentage in 380 attempts. Her 9-plus pins knocked down on first ball strike is 68.4 percent in traditional team play. She has knocked down 65.9 percent of her spares in traditional team play.
Shinn, who stepped up tremendously during the year, was not far behind Robinson with a 192.17 average over 47 games played. She had a career-high 245 game on Jan. 21 at the Kutztown Invite where she averaged 225.50 for the tournament.
Shinn has bowled 951 frames this season. She has a 42.7 percent strike percentage and she has picked up 75 percent of her 548 spare attempts. She recorded a strike on her 10th frame 43.2 percent (169 attempts). She has been strongest in Baker play with a 45.1 percent strike percentage in 561 frames. She has knocked down 9-plus pins on first ball strike 72.1 percent of the time in Baker play. She has knocked down 75.9 percent of her spares in traditional team play.
Next up for the MEAC Southern Division regular season champions is the MEAC Tournament in Chesapeake, Va. on Mar. 24-26.
