CHESAPEAKE, Va. (November 12, 2017) – North Carolina A&T took care of business in their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference bowling meet of the season. The Aggies went 3-0 on the first day before following up that performance with a 2-1 Sunday to get off to a 5-1 start in MEAC Southern Division play.

“It was a great weekend overall even though we fell a little short the last match,” said N.C. A&T coach Kim Terrell-Kearney. “ I’m very excited with how the team stayed optimistic and worked well together each match which was something we worked hard on this week in practice.”

The Aggies, ranked 18th in the nation by the National Tenpin Coaches Association,  improved to 15-16 overall. The Aggies swept traditional play on Day 1, defeating Norfolk State (935-888), Bethune-Cookman (836-793) and Florida A&M (935-892).

N.C. A&T started off day two strong in Baker play with wins over Bethune-Cookman 814-755 and Florida A&M 952-939. The only loss of the meet came in the last game against Norfolk State, 932-895.

Three Aggies placed in the top-5 of the meet. Senior Brianna Boze led the Aggies with a second-place finish that included a 584 total pinfall and a 194 average.  Freshmen Ana Olaya recorded a 573 total pinfall which came out to a 192 average for fourth place, while freshmen Cameron Strombeck finished fifth with a 572 total pinfall and a 191 average.

The Aggies return to action Nov. 17-19 in the Hawk Classic hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore in Millsboro, Del.
