MILLSBORO, DEL. (November 16, 2018) – The 11th-ranked North Carolina A&T bowling team completed the first day of the Hawk Classic in fourth place while going 2-2. The Aggies bowled five Bakers matches with one of them being a bye for a 4,972 total pinfall for an average of 198.9.
N.C. A&T started the day off with a win over Youngstown State 961-860 before suffering a loss in Game 2 by a disappointing two pins. The Aggies bowled a 1,008 against No. 4 Sam Houston State, they lost 1,010-1,008. The game did start a streak of three straight 1,000-plus games for the Aggies. During the streak, the Aggies handed No. 1 Vanderbilt, the defending national champions, their only loss of the day. N.C. A&T posted their highest game of the day to defeat the Commodores 1,054-998. The next match was a bye with the Aggies rolling an impressive 1,038 before dropping their last match to No. 10 Tulane 981-911.
Play on Saturday is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., as each team, will play five traditional matches. Bracket play will take place on Sunday to determine the final standings of the Hawk Classic.
