GREENSBORO – It was a long, tough day on the lanes for the North Carolina A&T bowling team who finished eighth out of 26 teams at the Kutztown Invitational Sunday afternoon at Heister Lanes.

The 20th-ranked Aggies (37-17) entered Sunday’s competition in fifth place, but fell to eighth after dropping three best-of-seven baker games.

A&T faced No. 17 Valparaiso in its opening game but came up short 4-3 in a competitive series. After dropping the first two games, the Aggies won the next three, 224-171, 237-182, 174-156, before losing the last two. The Aggies went up against fourth-ranked Stephen F. Austin in the next match but fell 4-1.

In the deciding match between seventh and eighth place, A&T went up against MEAC opponent Norfolk State who won the game 4-2.

Sophomore Emily Strombeck finished 19th overall out of a field of over 200 bowlers with a pinfall of 1,212 during traditional team games. Freshman Kristin Shinn was 24th with a total pinfall of 1,185.

The Aggies will compete at the Morgan State tournament beginning on Friday, Feb. 14 in Perry Hall, Md.
