GREENSBORO (February 6, 2018) – Freshman Cameron Strombeck (Durham, N.C.) was rewarded for her record-breaking performance as she earned bowler of the week by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
“Cameron is just beginning to understand how great she can be,” said coach Kim Terrell-Kearney. “Each week she puts in the work and it is no surprise she is starting to see some of the rewards.”
Strombeck set her career high twice during this past weekend’s Prairie View A&M Invitational in Arlington, Texas. In Game 3 of individual play, she was a major contributor in helping the Aggies defeat the National Tenpin Coaches Association’s No. 1 ranked Nebraska 1,075-997 by bowling a a career-best 255. The very next game she toppled that number by bowling an astonishing 258 to help N.C. A&T defeat tournament-host PVAMU 960-791. Strombeck’s 258 is also a team-high for individual play this season.
Strombeck finished sixth in the individual standing with a total pinfall of 1,326 and an average 221.0. She finished sixth among nine of the top-10 teams in the nation. Strombeck leads the team in bowling average at 194.83 and she is second on the team in total pinfall at 4,676. Last year, Strombeck was named United States Bowling Congress youth high average winner.
“It feels amazing, all of my goals are slowly being achieved,” Strombeck said. “I just have to keep working hard and keeping my dream and vision alive.”
Strombeck and the Aggies return to action Feb. 16-18 to compete in the SFA Stormin’ Ladyjack Classic in Houston.
