EAST GREENSBORO (October 23, 2018) –Freshman Pamela Warr (Virginia Beach, Va.) was rewarded for career debut this past weekend in Louisiana as she was named bowler of the week by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference on Tuesday. Warr led the Aggies who finished third by going 11-2 at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Invitational hosted by Tulane University.

“Pamela has bought into and believed in our process from the beginning. She is one of the easiest athletes to coach,” said assistant coach Linda Grace who is filling in for head coach Kim Terrell-Kearney. “She performed well during traditional play only opening six frames out of five games. With performing as well as she did in her first college tournament, I am ecstatic to see where her potential takes her as the season progresses.”

Warr eclipsed the 200-mark twice during traditional play rolling a 226 against the No. 6  team in the nation, Stephen F. Austin and a 205 against Valparaiso helping defeat both teams.

Warr finished sixth in the individual standings with a 974 total pinfall and a 194.80 average. Warr's performance throughout the weekend helped the Aggies secure wins over all three opponents in the National Tenpin Coaches Association poll's top-10 who were in attendance. Tenth-ranked Tulane was defeated 972-909 on Day 1. On Day 2, the Aggies defeated No. 6 Stephen F. Austin 943-923 before defeating Tulane again during bracket play on Sunday. They finished out the tournament with a win over No. 4 Sam Houston State to secure a third-place finish.

“This is way beyond my expectations for my first year, let alone my first tournament on the North Carolina A&T bowling team,” said Warr. “I’ve been working hard for years to finally come to the perfect school with one of the greatest bowling coaches and it is finally paying off. It’s an honor to earn this award, and I will work harder every day to improve my game.”

Warr and the Aggies will return to action this Friday, Oct. 26-28, to compete in the Bearcat Hammer Open in Fairview Heights, Ill.
