EAST GREENSBORO (February 24, 2019) – The 10th-ranked North Carolina A&T went 3-2 on the final day the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Meet No. 2 hosted by N.C. A&T at AMF Lanes. The Aggies are 56-37 overall and 15-3 in the MEAC missing out on winning the regular-season championship. The Aggies will enter the MEAC tournament, March 22-24 in Chesapeake, Va., as the second seed.
N.C. A&T finished the day with a total pinfall of 9,291 and a 185.82 average. They finished with a total pinfall of 17,430 and a 183.47 average over the two MEAC meets. Maryland Eastern Shore is the regular-season champion. The Hawks finished with a total pinfall of 17,485 and a 184.05 average over the two meets. Delaware State, University of Alabama-Birmingham and Monmouth rounded out the top-5 in the MEAC.
The Aggies actually bowled a 243 against Maryland Eastern Shore to win 243-174 to open Sunday's competition. N.C. A&T then struggled to find their groove as MDES found theirs. The Aggies dropped the next four games falling to MDES 964-939 for their first loss of the meet.
N.C. A&T bounced back by downing UAB 946-888. The third game took the wind out of UAB’s sail as they were anticipating a win after bowling a 200 game. But the Aggies bowled a 244 to down the Blazers. In the third match, the Aggies bowled two more 200-plus games as they defeated Monmouth 960-868. The Aggies then defeated Coppin State as they tried to use their momentum to earn another win. The Aggies did just that as they rolled over the Eagles 913-797. N.C. A&T came up short in the final game of the day as they fell to Howard 953-904.
The Aggies will return to action next week as they travel to Egg Harbor, N.J. to compete in the Monmouth Hawk Flight, March 1-3.
